We all know parenting is the most important job in the world and the positives and the negatives go on for hundreds of years. Learning supportive parenting skills is essential for you because there is such a thing as self-parenting. And parenting often times of your parents, because as they age, you'll become their parents. And for your kids or relatives, people you're around, supportive parenting skills are the differentiator between having successful relationships, unsuccessful relationships, or even very few, if any, relationships. You will learn exact techniques for supportive parenting skills that are clinically proven and were inspired by the co-principle investigator of the ACE Study, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Dr. Vincent Felitti. He personally and professionally has guided me towards techniques and skills that are now available to you. 



According to the Centers For Disease Control and the National Institute of Health, 4 out of 5 visits to medical doctors in the United States are stress related.  People go to the doctor because they’re experiencing physical signals like headaches, stomach aches, back aches and sleep problems that are actually the results of poorly managed stress.  Then an MD will typically recommend lots of tests and medication that doesn’t treat the underlying issues.

Great!  You want to be the best parent you can be.  Parenting is probably the most difficult job in the world and the most important.  It’s the only job that is 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, with no vacations, no pay, you can’t quit, and it goes on forever. And while we as parents may be under tremendous amounts of stress these days, research is showing that kids are tremendously stressed as well.   At school our kids face pressure for grades, state standardized testing, heavy homework loads, and the ugly threat of school gun violence.  After school they are often over-scheduled in activities like sports, music, dance, martial arts, etc.  In their social lives they have to deal with peer pressure, bullying (both in person and cyber), invasive social media, personal appearance (particularly their weight), and competition for friends.  And to top it all off, they feel family pressures: financial strain, parental fighting, high divorce rates, frequent family moves (in our ever more mobile society), parental drug and alcohol abuse, on and on.

Admittedly, some of these stress factors are pretty normal parts of growing up.  But because expectations for children are now so high, and because kids have so little time to relax, play, and let their problems go, their stress just keeps mounting.  And the harmful effects- recurring headaches or stomach aches; trouble sleeping or fatigue; difficulty concentrating; emotional outbursts or mood swings; social withdrawal or aggressiveness; overeating and obesity- are becoming increasingly visible to concerned parents and teachers.

It is imperative to help parents, kids and their communities find meaningful solutions. After nervously putting myself together the morning of my first session, I sat in Dr. Alman’s comfortable office and waited for him to arrive. It was 8:00 am, cloudy and cold. I had no idea what to expect and serious reservations. ‘What could he possibly accomplish (short of an exorcism!) in eight hours that I hadn’t been able to accomplish in 29 years?!’, I thought.

Within minutes of meeting Dr. Alman, I had my answer - a lot. I found Dr. Alman’s presence very calming and was instantly at ease. I quickly parted with the security of my lunch bag when he showed me a cooler perfectly packed with organic fruit, water and energy bars. He clearly had thought of everything. As we headed to the beach the conversation was easy and I found myself actually excited about the potential the day held.

The next six or so hours were spent in a beach chair with the emerging sun on my face, warm sand in my toes and at times, cool waves playing at my feet. I have never talked so freely about myself for such an extended period of time. I have also never had someone listen so intently without judgment.
